It seems that the striker is destined to depart Lyon in the coming weeks, with the Spanish capital looking an increasingly likely destination
Alexandre Lacazette has revealed that France international striker Antoine Griezmann has been trying to get him to sign for Atletico Madrid “for a while”.
Speaking after scoring twice in a 2-2 draw with Nice, Lacazette admitted his future lies away from Parc OL.
“I’ve decided to leave Lyon for a while, but I’ve not gone yet. I’ve thought about it for a while,” Lacazette said.
“It’s difficult to say no to a club like Atletico if they ask you. But there’s not only Atletico.
“Antoine has been trying to get me to move there for a while.”
Even if the Lyon striker dropped only this hint about his future, it seems that Griezmann may get his wish, with OL president Jean-Michel Aulas confirming on Saturday that an agreement has been reached with Atleti and a deal will be done if the Spanish side are able to successfully appeal their transfer ban.
